Services may be funded through the Community Care Access Centre (CCAC) Inquiries about fee for service can be directed to: NursingWound Care - VON nurses treat patients with a full range of wounds including those from surgery and trauma, as well as chronic wounds. Palliative Care - VON Middlesex-Elgin deliver compassionate care and comfort to clients facing death, their families and caregivers. Intravenous Care - VON nurses can provide a wide range of intravenous care. More and more types of intravenous therapies are being offered at home, whether people need fluids, medication, or even chemotherapy. Enterostomal Care - After ostomy surgery, the VON nurses helps the individual care for the ostomy and adjust to a new way of life with minimal disruption. VON enterostomal nurses are also specialists in skin and wound care, and act as consultants to other staff members at the branch and throughout the community. Paediatric Services - Trained staff offer paediatric care in the area of central life management, wound management and medication administration. There is also respite care for families provided. Respiratory Care - VON nurses provide ongoing care for clients with chronic obstructive lung disease, emphysema, cystic fibrosis and other respiratory conditions. The focus of respiratory care is to stabilize the client, decrease their visits to the hospital and shorten their hospital stays. Personal SupportPersonal Care - This service can include such care as grooming, dressing, bathing, transferring, bed care, medication compliance, wound dressing, blood sugar and blood pressure monitoring. This care is usually performed by a personal care support worker (PSW). Respite Care - This service can provide relief for the primary caregiver and supportive care for the client. Homemaking - Clients who require VON personal care services may also require homemaking services. These services can include meal preparation, light housekeeping and laundry. |
